Talks fall down between News Corp and Skype

Britain’s Independent Newspaper reported on Sunday that the talk between the News Corporation and Skype over a possible talk over bid has fallen down. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp had reportedly made a bid of around USD 3 Billion dollar for the company, which specializes in making VoIP based software applications and are very popular around the web for the free application they give out.

The newspaper said that the talks fall out just before Mr. Murdoch’s son Lachlan quit his father’s empire. In addition, Skype made it pretty clear that they were not available for sale. However, market analysts believe that the company should be taken over by a larger company in the coming days. Both Skype and News Corp have declined to make a statement on these reports floating in the media.

Skype is the most popular VoIP application available on the internet. It has revolutionized the way people communicate on the Internet providing an alternate to the chat and messaging applications. It also provides routine messenger facilities in addition to calling facility to other users on the same application. Users can also pay a small fee to make calls to normal telephony instruments.

Skype was founded by Niklas Zennstrom, a Swedish businessman who also co-founded Kazaa and it operates out of London.
