Microsoft to begin Vista coupon plan for new computer buyers

Software giant Microsoft is due to begin shipping Vista operating system to their corporate customers starting next month.

Retail shipment is due to begin early next year. The company has now announced the plans to start a coupon program for personal computer buyers to upgrade to the new Vista operating system when it premiers next year.

This is to prevent any drop-off in PC sales over the holidays and ahead of the software’s release.

Microsoft said in a statement that this program would begin on October 26 for both its upcoming Vista operating system and MS Office 2007 suite.

These coupons would help the customers of new machines to get an upgrade to Windows Vista when the new operating system becomes available in early 2007. A similar program would enable customers to upgrade to Office 2007 which is also due for a release next year.

These upgrades might come free or at a small fee depending upon the manufacturer of the machines purchased by the customers.

Brad Brooks, general manager of Windows product marketing spoke on this new offer: “There is no objections for why you’d want to buy a PC this holiday season, because you know you can get the upgrade.”
