Thailand to launch Digital Thailand initiative on the lines of Google Earth
If you live in Thailand and are in awe of the kind of power and flexibility, applications like Google Earth provide, than you have got something more interesting to look forward to. A project, which involves the Chulalongkorn University and the Office of Space Technology Development and Geographical Information Technology, is expected to be unveiled sometime next month that would be called as the Digital Thailand.
They are developing a system to conduct satellite mapping targeting the country in a similar ways like Google Earth does. They would be providing an online version and also be making it available on CDs. Students and researchers in the country could get these CDs and Maps on request from the project developers. The online version would also be made to provide similar functionalities accessible from anywhere in the world.
Paisal Santithammanont, of Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering claimed that both of these services would be free for the people of Thailand for the maps taken of the general terrains. He also added that the setup would be very similar to how Google Earth shows the maps but they would be customizing it to suit the Thailand users.
The online version would of course be more clearer and up-to-date than the versions that would be distributed in CD forms. And of course, the taskforce would remove all the security sensitive areas from these maps before anything goes public.

About

Dear Sirs,
I am coordinating the Project Coordination Unit of the Environmental Ministry of Ecuador, and we are trying to get somo ideas for incorporating something similar to your project in order to monitoring the protected areas and other indangerous forests.
At the begining we are going to be monitoring an area of 250.000 hectares as a pilot project. We are trying to check if it is possible to keep actualizing high resolution images of that specific area (and how often and How much it will cost?).
Actually we were planning to incorporate this images into the Google Earth estructure in orhter to give people access to these high resolution photografies through the Google Earth plataform and in that way they could follow the development of the projects we are initiating, but we have not get any idea of how to do it from Google Earth.
I was wondering if it is possible to work with you sometning similar?
Sorry for bothering you with my questions.
Sincerely,
Diego Burneo

Hi All Experts,
Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
