Opera Software launches Opera 8 for Macintosh

Opera Software today released the much-awaited Opera 8 for Macintosh users. This release works with Mac OS X versions 10.2 and higher. This update brings the latest version of Opera to the tons of Apple users who have been waiting for the Mac release since quite sometime. The versions for Linux and Windows Operating System have been available for quite sometime.

In fact, the company launched an updated version of Opera 8 for the Windows and Linux platform, which brings about security fixes and some new updates. The Mac version offers the similar Opera’s extensive functionality and an optional 15 languages standard upon download.

Opera Software claims that this release of Opera for Mac is the most Macintosh-like version ever and comes with improved support for Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines and added Full Keyboard Access functionality. Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software said during the launch: “With Opera, Mac users can surf fast, comfortably and efficiently using a full-featured browser that is not tied to the operating system (OS). Rather than incurring costly upgrades to your OS to get the newest features, Opera allows Mac users to browse, e-mail, download, and chat using one program, requiring minimal system resources due to Opera’s small size.”

Users of Macs can download the latest Opera Browser version for the Apple OS X here and checkout the changelog here.
