Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger is out

Macintosh is making news like never before. The success of iPod and iTunes has made sure that anything that Apple does makes big headlines and this latest one sure is important. Apple has just released the Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger in the retail market and it is already claimed to be a huge success. With the competition in the form of PC based Windows Operating System suffering huge embarrassment due to security related glitches, more and more consumers are looking towards the Mac as their tech savior.

April 29 saw the company releasing one of their finest offering in the Operating System market yet. Microsoft has already delayed a lot the release of their next generation Operating System Longhorn, so this move means that Apple has a head start in providing the consumers the option to power their next generation gadgets and enable them to enjoy the new technological advancements.

The company says that this updated OS comes with around 200 new advancements and most of them are aimed at making computing simpler and fun. One of the most interesting introductions is the new Spotlight feature, which gives the functionality of Desktop Searching and more. The company claims that once the user gets used to Spotlight, folders would no longer hold any relevance considering finding files is now a thing of a past.

Than there is this newly introduced Dashboard, which enables the user to run mini applications which consume little resources but provide excellent functionalities lying on the desktop. Apple supplies a range of widgets (as they call it) and expects the developers to come up with their own.

And anyone who keeps track of the news would know that there are few incidents of Apple based OS being hacked or affected by viruses and Spyware when compared to Microsoft powered applications. This is of course the perk of owning an Apple. You are relatively more secure when you are running an Apple OS. However, with the growing popularity of Apple Macintosh computers, this might change as people have come to live with bugs and security glitches in the much talked about Mozilla Firefox browser.
