Apple Computer Inc. launching Tiger OS on April 29

While the users of the Microsoft applications have to satisfy themselves with the Service Pack 2 of the Windows Operating System. Apple would be launching their next major updated Operating System Tiger OS on April 29. Microsoft’s next major update Longhorn is not scheduled to launch anytime soon and this would give Apple fans a big reason to smile about.

Apple announced on Tuesday their plans to release the latest version later this month. It would also be accompanied by the server edition of the same Operating System. The company would be retailing it at USD 499 for a 10-user license and USD 999 for an unlimited client edition.

This latest update comes with highly anticipated feature additions like the Spotlight which is an advanced desktop searching utility under development for quite sometime. It is quite similar to the PC based desktop searching applications but is expected to be faster and less resource intensive considering the engine is built inside the operating system. Users would be able to search the computer’s hard disk drives to find documents, e-mail, pictures, and music.

Apple’s new Operating System would also for the first time support the next-generation video-compression standard H.264. iChat would support multi-user video conferencing and more features are in store for the Apple Fans of today’s generation. It is expected to be overall an interesting release.
