Google rock our world on April 1 with GMail. Yet again!
Just recently, we saw Google’s latest updates to their flagship webmail service GMail which now enables us the users to compose and forward email with HTML content. Now, on their first anniversary (people thought GMail was a joke as it was announced on April 1 last year!), Google does it again. They have big surprises for the users, which are quite apparent from their updated homepage.
They have in addition to list all the recent updates, also added a nice one. It is called Infinity+1 storage plan. We use GMail here at TechWhack. We love it for its speed and functionality. However, we worry about the storage space. 1 GB at times is not just good enough. Internet is not going anywhere and same with us. It is going to remain a medium to communicate for a long time and that would require space.
Google understands this and have an assurance that with GMail, we will not have to worry about it. For starters, they are giving us an additional GB. That means we would now have GMail accounts with 2 GB storage space. In addition, they have plans to keep increasing it to even higher levels. With free pop/smtp support and mail forwarding available, it still is a surprise that some people go for paid services at Yahoo Mail! and Hotmail.
They are at this very moment running a counter on their website. The value of the counter is being upgrading the webmail storage of every GMail account around continuously! We expect this counter to last until the time it reaches the 2GB mark. Or maybe not! Maybe Google will just let it continue to fulfill their promise of infinity plus one initiative!
They have surprised us before. This sounds to be another one. Or maybe this one is an April Fools Joke. However, for that Google had Google Gulp Beta!

I hope Google start working on an operating system!
As of 8:30 P.M., April 2nd, counter is still running and up to 2052 megs :)
can google offer free web hosting sometime? that would be really interesting especialy if it does, it would be pop up free and adds free exept some small adds that don’t really bother the users…
Wasn’t it obvious that Infinity+1 was an April Fools joke? However, their plan to increase space to 2GB, and go up from there so we never have to worry about space limits again, is completely true.
This is a prank as well. Theres the Gulp, Tisp, and Gmail Paper. 3 pranks are better than one. ^^
