Updated information on the upcoming Internet Explorer 7
Microsoft has been mum on the topic of how the Internet Explorer 7 is planned to be launched in the coming months. Even more secret is the new feature set the users can expect to see in this much-awaited major update to the world’s most used web browser. However, tech sites have been keeping a track on the hints dropped here and there by the Microsoft Employees and Bloggers and predicting what we can expect to see in Internet Explorer 7.
Leading website, which keeps track of the developments in Microsoft (Microsoft Watch), has released some information on this topic. The prime focus for this upcoming update seems to be again security. Microsoft has taken big steps to beef up the security in their applications ever since their Chairman Bill Gates announced Security would become the first priority for the company in the coming years. The new features expected to appear in the coming version are addition of tabbed browsing and added standards support.
Microsoft went back on their plans to release this updated browser version only in the upcoming Longhorn edition of the Windows Operating System. They have now announced to ship independent versions of the browser for customers running Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, and Windows XP Professional x64.
The software giant also plans to make the browser work in reduced privilege mode to lessen the impact of browser exploits caused by malicious codes taking advantage of weak browser settings. In addition, Microsoft might also go all the way by integrating their recently released Anti-Spyware Application with the Internet Explorer to make it safer to such attacks.
