Opera 8 Beta 2 is a real good update from the Browser Company
The whole world is singing songs in the praise of the Open Source Browser Firefox. However, there is still a small company from Norway out there, which keeps on innovating staying away from the limelight for much of the time. Opera continues to remain a favorite amongst their loyal user base who continues to use this browser which comes in a free and fully functional ad-supported version as well as a paid for version which is ad-free.
It has been quite sometime since we saw a final release from the company. There seems to be a good reason behind it. the company started working on the 7.60 version which went into quite some preview releases and beta testing before the they decided to increase the version to next major level. This resulted in the Opera 8 Beta 1, which was accepted with cheers by the Opera Users.
The latest news in is that Opera just released the second beta of the much awaited version 8 with some nifty security updates. One of the prime features of this update is the anti-phishing measures the company has applied on the browser. Opera 8 Beta 2 is programmed to display the name of an organization that owns the certificate of a site inside the address bar of the application. This lets the users to check out which organization issued the certificate letting him decide how trustful the website is.
In other major changes, Opera added support for Atom and for bloggers who uses certain web based blogging applications, Opera fixed certain CSS issues with fieldsets, and functionalities of web forms through JavaScript based buttons.
