WinZip releases add-on tool for Microsoft Outlook

WinZip is a utility synonymous with compression of files on the PC Platform. It happens to be one of the most popular utility to have if you deal with Zip files. Moreover, along with the popularity of the net compressed files remains as popular as ever. Similarly, Microsoft Outlook remains the number 1 choice (though not the best one out there) for E-Mail management and Personal Information Manager.

The latest utility released by the WinZip Computing, Inc. happens to bring these two applications together. They have released an application they are calling WinZip Companion for Outlook. It has been developed to make it easy for Outlook users to zip and encrypt attachments to their outgoing e-mail messages.

In fact, it also let users to encrypt the attachments using the latest incorporated AES technology. The WinZip Companion can be configured to zip files in three different ways. User can tell the application to do it automatically, or ask for confirmation every time or let the user compress the attachments manually all the time.

WinZip’s AES Encryption uses either 128- and 256-bit encryption scheme, which has been selected as the standard for both U.S. government and private data encryption. The format supported by WinZip is FIPS-197 as certified by NIST.

The company has made available a fully functional evaluation version of WinZip Companion for Outlook on their official website. For users of MS Outlook and WinZip this is a must have utility!
