Skype goes final on Linux and Mac

In a new update, which would excite the users of alternative Operating Systems, the makers of Skype announced that the software is now available in final version for both Linux and Mac Operating System. Windows platform already has the stable final release for quite sometime. Skype is available as a free download from the company’s website for anyone who wants to give a try to VoIP based chat and IM solutions.

The developers claim the software now offer complete cross-platform compatibility for a service, which is now used by more than 23 million registered users. The company also mentions that they are adding users at an impressive rate of 1,30,000 new users per day! That is one hot service to be a part of. Even impressive is the fact that Skype is now claiming that they have served more than 4 Billion Skype-to-Skype minutes routed over the Internet.

Another impressive statistic to showcase the popularity of this software is the fact that the software has been downloaded around 58 million times from the Internet. Some mind boggling numbers we are talking about considering VoIP is a fairly new concept and not all the areas in the world have connectivity good enough to give good voice chat experience.

Skype let users ‘talk’ to each other using VoIP technology and this service is free for everyone.
