Firefox to put life in Netscape Browser?

It seems interesting now that Firefox in its first form was called Phoenix. Because it is now reported to be the base for the new Netscape browser release from the AOL stable. AOL is apparently looking to reestablish the Netscape brand in the browser market.

Latest news in is that AOL is starting work back on the Netscape Browser. And it would be based on Firefox with added functionality and enhancements. The limited beta release would be out by 30th November (Register for beta here). The last update on the Netscape browser (version 7.2) was released in august. Since then there has been little news on any new version.

The popularity of Firefox has changed the way people looked at browsers. Millions of copies have been downloaded ever since the first version was released and AOL seems to be realizing the potential from old Netscape die-hards who can be convinced back to use Netscape browser, which is better and faster than ever.

The current version is already based on Gecko Engine. However, it is slower to load here than Firefox.

Another interesting thing is that AOL is also working on their own browser to be called AOL Browser, which is based on Internet Explorer engine. Now, this is all very confusing to me…
