Opera releases Preview 3 of 7.60 version

Firefox has been hogging the news since the last couple of days with its first final version release with plans to snatch up to 10% of the browser market share in the coming year. However, there is another browser, which has survived every assault in the web browsers field.

Opera Browser has been the third most popular browser in the market since quiet many years. It has seen the Netscape Era, it survived the Internet Explorer scare, and now it is doing pretty good with Firefox taking the center stage. It is in version 7.xx now and is possibly the most feature rich browser (not a skin for another rendering engine) out of the box and that too in a sub 4meg download (without java).

It is still surviving and doing pretty good comes as a surprise to many considering it is one of the few browsers out there, which are not exactly free. It however comes in an ad-enabled version that is fully functional without any nag-screen. And today they released the latest preview 3 of the much-awaited 7.60 version.

Some of the main changes are more comprehensive options to switch between the various modes (SDI, MDI and tabbed) and the improved ability to turn off extra features like Chat and Mail client. Also updated is the Start Bar with real cool features like Top 10 (to access most visited sites). For a more comprehensive list of changes, visit the Changelog. In addition, to discuss and download it the forum post is here.

Opera has come a long way over the years. Keep the good work. One comment: Can we fix the reloading of Quicktime problem that I’ve noticed hampers Opera from being perfect?
