Kazaa usage going down, eDonkey taking over

File Sharing is a phenomenon that has changed and developed with the improvement in internet technology. It all started with Napster and currently Bittorrent networks are rocking the internet. Until sometime back, it was Kazaa network, which was the most popular form of file sharing online.

But as it has happened before, Kazaa is getting old and eDonkey is taking over. Recent results from an agency that tracks the number of users on the file sharing networks found that the average users on eDonkey network are slowly overgrowing the users on Kazaa network. Which means Kazaa is no longer the most favorite means of sharing and downloading files online.

Kazaa is plagued with virus loaded and fake files, which pose a big security threat to people downloading them. Also, many agencies use them to track people who illegally share files. In the process encouraging them to move to other means of sharing files online.

Kazaa Lite is the way to go.

I agree with Osiris on the Kazaa Lite. The main problem is that Kazaa is filled with so many bogus files now that they have caught the eye of the record companies, that is is hardly worth the time to search for anything.

There are programs available to obfuscate your IP address, use Kazaa without all the spyware, and you’re virus scanner and ad-aware should take care of most of the rest.

It is the lack of good files on it anymore that is driving people away. (ALOT of the music files are out there by record company bots now, just look for sharers’ with names like michelle772653, doug999370, whoever2222222 and are either of horrible quality, have beeps and cracks in them, or are just palain unusable.)

BitTorrent is a better way for now, but I can’t wait to see what the next technology is.
