A hybrid web utility providing various utilities for web developers

No doubt there are other search engines out there which might do the same things. Prog was one of them until they screwed it by filling the resultant page with so much junk that users like me found it close to unusable. So, had to find another engine that does the same and PRSearch is one of them.

It is a simple search engine and would perhaps end up like Prog but until then, it is pretty useful. Based mostly on Google API, it does output results that a normal Google search would give out, but it does more than that. It has 4 tabs on the default installations. Let me discuss them one by one.

PageRank Search
It is the normal search feature which outputs Google’s result in a pretty similar looking page. The difference is that it shows other very cool information about the resultant sites. You can see the site’s PageRank and the number of incoming links. Very informative indeed… considering Google’s PageRank showing toolbar only comes for Internet Explorer.

Link Popularity Checker
Another nice utility that let you check the number of incoming links coming from the most popular search engines. Also, gives you access to the pages linking to the domain on all the search engines with 1 click. It searches in following search engines: Google, Yahoo! , MSN Search, AltaVista, AllTheWeb and HotBot.

Position Checker Google and Yahoo! Search
Another very useful utility that is available for use on both Google and Yahoo! Search. Just put in a keyword and your site. And the engine will find out if the URI of the site comes for that keywords in first 500/1000 results. This utility saves one from going through pages and pages of search results checking the status of the website for some keywords.

Overall a simple and pretty useful website for webmasters and search engine optimizers.

Really useful if you want to check on the rating of your own sites - how likely they are to feature where, and all that.
And also of course……….. for ego-surfing.
