Opera and eBay brings online trading facility to mobile users
Opera has joined hands with ecommerce giants eBay to develop a custom version of their Opera Mini software.
This customized version brings the auction site’s marketplace to mobile phones for users in the German market.
eBay users can use this application to buy and sell products on the eBay Germany website. This facility would benefit 20 million customers registered on the German edition of the eBay company.
Opera Software spokesman Eskil Sivertsen claimed that their software renders pages faster by processing them through a remote server before serving them up to the cellular phone. He said: “We compress the pages by about 80 percent before sending them to the handset. The amount of data you’re trying to transfer really dictates the speed.”
The phone supports any mobile phone, which runs Java and comes with Opera’s Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) technology, which reformats pages to fit the width of the mobile screen.
