McAfee acquires Preventsys Inc.

Security application developers McAfee have announced that they are taking over the closely held Preventsys Inc.

The financial details of this deal were not revealed but McAfee spokesperson Siobhan MacDermott said that the transaction was valued “in the low millions”.

Preventsys is based in Carlsbad, California and develops security risk management software. These applications are used by companies to identify security problems as they seek to demonstrate and monitor compliance with internal auditing procedures and government regulations.

This decision of acquisition comes after McAfee Chief Executive George Samenuk said in a statement last month that he intended to broaden its portfolio of security products through acquisitions.
