Microsoft adds anti-virus and anti-spam technology to Exchange Server 2007 messaging software

Software giants Microsoft has announced that they would be offering a souped-up version of its upcoming Exchange Server 2007 messaging software for businesses. This edition of the Exchange Server would come with extra anti-virus and anti-spam technology.

The company would be selling a new “Exchange Enterprise” option along with the standard version of this application.

Microsoft would be integrating technology gained from the acquisition of Sybari Software into the higher-end version for enhanced security and spam protection facilities. This version would also include message-filtering service that came with Microsoft’s acquisition of FrontBridge Technologies Inc.

The Exchange Enterprise edition would also include advanced features for complying with regulations on storing and tracking e-mail, and for unifying different types of communications into a common program. Microsoft is targeting this launch at the existing popular solutions in the market including the IBM Corp.’s Lotus Notes and Domino programs.

Exchange Server 2007 is currently running in beta testing and is scheduled for launch sometime later this year.
