Adobe to continue development of GoLive and Freehand
Adobe recently acquired rivals Macromedia and formed an entity, which develops some of the most popular publishing and web development tools out there including Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
However, this also meant that some products overlapped in the portfolio of both these companies. The overlapping products included GoLive and Freehand.
In the recent weeks, several online news sources claimed that Adobe Systems would discontinue development and support for these two products.
However, the company has now released a clarification that they have no such plans. Adobe said in a statement: “Adobe plans to continue to support GoLive and Freehand and develop these products based on our customer’s needs.â€
The statement further added: “Clearly Dreamweaver and Illustrator are market leading when it comes to web design/development and vector graphics/illustration. Customers should expect Adobe to concentrate our development efforts around these two products with regards to future innovation and Creative Suite integration.â€
