Hewlett-Packard suffers another Funlove virus infection fiasco
Hardware industry giants Hewlett Packard has confirmed that they have pulled a printer driver from its Web site after they were alerted by security vendor BitDefender.
This specific drive file was infected with the same computer virus that infected HP’s drivers more than five years ago.
BitDefender informed HP of this security issue and they confirmed that the driver files were indeed infected by the Funlove virus.
BitDefender spokesman Vitor Souza confirmed that the driver file was removed from the HP servers on Thursday.
The virus infected the Korean version of the Windows 95/98 driver for HP’s Officejet g85 All-in-One printer. The model is no longer sold and it is unlikely that any user indeed got affected by it considering all current generation antivirus applications are capable of dealing with Funlove.
