Adobe might file an antitrust suit against Microsoft

Software giants Microsoft have said that they expect to be sued by Adobe Systems after the two companies failed to settle on a decision related to Microsoft using Adobe’s technology in their MS Office suite.

Microsoft wants to incorporate feature in their Office Suite to make it easier for users to output PDF files. However, Adobe did not like the idea and instead suggesting that Microsoft offer it as a separate product and pay a fee to Adobe.

Microsoft has agreed to remove the feature but have no interests to pay Adobe for using their technology. The two companies have not commented on what would now happen between these two companies.

Adobe has already expressed in the past that they expect Microsoft to become a bigger rival than ever in the coming years as they are developing more products, which challenges Adobe technologies. Microsoft recently unveiled the Metro technology and the XPS document format which experts believe directly targets the Adobe PDF technology.

Microsoft is also developing a Windows Media Photo format to take on the existing image formats prevailing in the market.
