Vista Internet Explorer to be called Internet Explorer 7+
Software giants Microsoft are working on launching the latest version of Internet Explorer web browser for both the XP and the Windows Vista platform.
And to differentiate between these two editions of the IE browser, they have now officially named the Vista’s version, Internet Explorer 7+. This would set it apart from the Internet Explorer 7 version being planned for the Windows XP machines.
The + in this browser name would refer to the Vista-only features in that OS’s browser. These include protected mode, parental controls, and better network diagnostics. IE 7 for Windows XP won’t have these extra features.
The company however clarified that the two browsers would share the same rendering engine. Users however are not impressed and have claimed that the naming would confuse novice customers into believing that the Vista’s version is an enhanced version of the browser they would get for the XP thus prompting them to upgrade to this next update of the Windows OS.
