Trojan-PSW.Win32.Sinowal.u: Password stealing Trojan found in wild

More news coming in on the virus front. A new Trojan has been discovered in the wild, which lures the user to install a security patch for the Microsoft application.

Security companies have named this malware Trojan-PSW.Win32.Sinowal.u and Kaspersky Lab claims that it is a next-generation Trojan.

The original version of this Trojan was discovered in December last year and the email campaign is being seen as the new way to spread it around. It was originally designed to spread around through web browsers with poor security.

The Trojan installs itself on the user’s computer and tries to steal login and password information for some European banks’ Web sites. Antivirus companies are recommending that the consumers stay alert about such mails and do not run files from unreliable sources.

Kaspersky Lab added that the Trojan is capable of updating itself.
