Ubuntu Dapper Drake coming on June 1
Ubuntu has taken over the Linux world with its simplicity and it has become one of the most recognized desktop Linux versions around.
The latest version of this Linux Distro codenamed Dapper Drake is due to come out on June 1. And this milestone release will be officially supported by the project for a longer period than previous versions.
The developers have also said that this version of the Ubuntu Linux will be enterprise ready and they would be providing paid support for corporations around the world.
The Ubuntu Dapper Drake will be supported for three years for the desktop version and five years for servers. The previous versions were supported for a period of 18 months.
The launch of this version of Ubuntu was delayed somehow as the developers decided to work on improving the reliability of this edition.
Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth had said in an emailed statement 2 months ago: “In some senses Dapper is a first for us, in that it is the first ‘enterprise-quality’ release of Ubuntu, for which we plan to offer support for a very long time. I, and others, would very much like Dapper to stand proud amongst the traditional enterprise Linux releases from Red Hat, Debian and SUSE as an equal match on quality, support and presentation.â€
