Microsoft OneCare goes final next week
Software giant Microsoft would make their first major entry into the security software/service market next week when the Windows Live OneCare would go final next week.
This service would include both backup and PC-tuning applications and has been undergoing extensive beta testing since quite sometime.
Users would now be able to purchase the final support version to keep their systems in shape and virus free.
Microsoft would sell licenses of Windows Live OneCare for $49.95 per year. Interestingly, this would cover security cover for three machines.
This package would include firewall, antivirus, and backup software in addition to the already available for download Microsoft’s Windows Defender AntiSpyware technology. Users would no longer have to rely on third party services for keeping their computers in shape.
It would be interesting to see how this service competes with the existing security applications in the market. Both Symantec and McAfee have announced their plans to launch similar packaged applications in the near future to keep their user base intact.
