Quark ships QuarkXPress 7 to the market
Software maker Quark has said that they have finally launched the much anticipated page-layout application, QuarkXPress 7 in the market. The product is now being shipped and would soon be available in software retail stores.
However, this version for the Mac is not a Universal Binary. This would mean that the application would not run at the top of its capabilities on the newly launched Intel processor based Apple Mac computers.
During the launch ceremony, Quark Senior Vice President of Desktop Products, Jurgen Kurz, confirmed that QuarkXPress 7 is a PowerPC application. However, the native Intel version is expected to be shipped later this year and would be provided as a free update to the customers.
Richard Pasewark, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing added on this release: “We think this is a significant upgrade. It’s where the market is going, and as more Mac users add Intel-based Macs to their workflows, we plan to support them.â€
