Google launches the new look Gmail
We saw the previews of this new look Gmail recently. And Google has made it official.
The new update features a much improved contact manager which has been a pain to use for a lot of us.
Google said:
We’re constantly reviewing user feedback about Gmail, and for a while now the number one request has been for a better contacts experience. You’ve asked us to generally make Contacts easier to use, as well as for specific improvements like sorting by last name, keyboard shortcuts, and custom labels for phone numbers. So, by popular request, we’re happy to announce that an overhauled version of Gmail Contacts will be rolling out today.

The layout has been updated and it is similar that of the leaked screenshots. And it looks nice.
You might not get this update immediately as the company is rolling it out slowly. Feel free to comment below about your opinion about this design change!
Google is also working on porting these updates to the Google Apps edition of Gmail.
Some dislikes:
Merging of select options in a dropdown box. Takes two click to select emails based on various criteria (all/read/unread/starred and so on).
The delete option is again in a dropdown box in the Contacts option requiring two clicks.
If Google now has a separate group for Mail/Contacts/Task, why are they still including Buzz in Mail? Buzz could have been added to the top group!
