Google Wave is being discontinued
A sad day for the users who found Google Wave to be something that was astonishingly powerful for online collaboration.
Google has announced that they are stopping the development work on this project.
Google Wave service would run till the end of the year. Users would be provided with tools to export their existing data.
The company has made some components of the service as open source projects.
Google added:
But despite these wins, and numerous loyal fans, Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked. We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects.
Wave has taught us a lot, and we are proud of the team for the ways in which they have pushed the boundaries of computer science. We are excited about what they will develop next as we continue to create innovations with the potential to advance technology and the wider web.

That's a shame. I don't believe they gave it much of an appropriate push. This was never going to be a great thing for regular users out there, but it could have been 'marketed' to businesses a bit more.

LikeTrue. It should have been made part of Google Apps where it would have succeeded. It had very little chance to succeed in consumer segment.
