OpenDocument Foundation develops plugins for MS Office

The OpenDocument Foundation Inc. has claimed that they have developed plugins for the Microsoft’s MS Office suite to support the OpenDocument Format. Software giants Microsoft have till not refused to provide a similar functionality to their users to save files in this open source documentation format.

This plug-in is not available for public download yet and would soon be submitted with the Massachusetts government. They are the first state in the United States to make use of the standard ODF file format mandatory within state government.

This plug-in would help ease the complications for their workers in shifting from MS Office to applications like OpenOffice. Microsoft on their part is trying to convince the state to stick with its software by submitting their new document format of MS Office 2007 with ECMA, a European standards body.
