Microsoft updates its Microsoft Defender application
Software giants Microsoft have released an updated version of their anti-spyware Microsoft Defender software. This update brings changes to the application’s user interface and signature updating mechanism.
They have also added a tweak that modifies alerts according to the severity of a threat. The update also brings improvement to its mechanism to better watch key parts of the OS for potential infection. In addition, this update now supports 64-bit systems.
Windows Defender Beta 2 however still remains a beta application and supports Windows XP, 2000, and Server 2003. The company would ship Windows Vista with this application when it is shipped early next year.
The developers wrote in a Blog post: “We have added a checkbox option to continually display the system tray icon. We have also improved Windows Defender’s ability to report more accurate data about potentially unwanted software through SpyNet so that we can help create better definition updates.”
