Mozilla Firefox touches the magical 10% market share mark

The latest statistical reports released by the Web audience measurement firm Net Applications claims that Mozilla Firefox browser has finally managed to attract enough new users to garner a 10% market share in the web browser market.

Mozilla Firefox is an open source web browser product developed by the Mozilla Foundation. According to the latest statistical reports, Firefox was used by 10.05 percent of Web surfers last month. This is an improvement from 9.75 percent market share in the month of February.

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer continues to dominate this segment of the market and has a market share of 84.7 percent. Apple Safari is now the third most used web browser in the market. It seems to have benefited from the fact that Apple Computers are becoming popular once again in the market and they are expected to grow even further with the Intel based product launched in the recent months.

The other browsers in the race were Netscape with 1.05% of the market share, Opera Browser with just around 0.54 percent share. Mozilla’s other browser offering had a market share of 0.34 percent.
