Norton Antivirus updates caused problems for AOL users
Just days after when McAfee Antivirus updates caused problems with Microsoft Excel application, Norton has confirmed that a recent update for their security applications resulted in issues for some America Online customers.
This flawed security update for the Norton applications blocked Internet access for some America Online users. The problem affected customers using recent editions of Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security.
Symantec said in the statement: “This update incorrectly detected traffic patterns used as part of the AOL connection as a potential risk.†As a result, many AOL customers were unable to access the internet and AOL services after installing this latest update.
However, Symantec took the corrective measures soon and the fix was posted within 7 hours of the first reports coming to the company reporting the problem. The company suggests that the people who are still facing problem to disable their security application and download the latest patches from their website.
