Windows Live Family Safety Settings: Parental control from Microsoft

Software giants Microsoft have said that they would soon be releasing a free service to help parents control and monitor what their kids are doing online through their Windows Live offering of Web services. This service would be called: Windows Live Family Safety Settings.

The company provides a similar service on their Xbox range of gaming consoles to help the parents restrict the kind of videogames their children can play on the gaming console. The concept of enabling parental control on computers has become a hot topic in the recent times with videogames like GTA: San Andreas creating controversies with hidden content in them.

Windows Live is the new range of online services Microsoft is developing to compete with the growing range of online competitors to keep their customer base. They are planning to offer advanced e-mail, instant messaging, online PC security, and Blogging facilities through this new product range.

Many services like Live Search, Live Mail, and Live Messenger are currently available in beta testing stage and we expect them to become widely available sometime later this year.
