Google launches Google Mars website
Search engine giant Google already provides Google Earth application and Google Moon website showcasing the publicly available satellite imagery of planet earth and its lonely moon. Now, the company has released a new service called Google Mars, which showcases an up-close, interactive view of the Red Planet.
Google Mars is a Web browser-based mapping tool enabling users to see the satellite imagery of the surface of the moon. They have used images taken by NASA’s orbiting Mars Odyssey and Mars Global Surveyor for this amazing service.
Of course, this facility won’t provide the users with driving directions on the surface of the Mars but they are indeed providing three different visual ways to look at the surface of the planet Mars. The Martian elevation map is color-coded by altitude. The second view is the visible-imagery map that shows the surface in black-and-white pictures. And then there is this infrared map, which indicates temperature, with cooler areas dark and warmer areas bright.
Google Mars also pinpoint the locations of unmanned space probes that have landed on Mars.
