Microsoft officially unveils Vista versions

Software giants Microsoft have now officially released the details on the upcoming variants of the Windows Vista operating system due to be launched later this year. The company has said that their would be as many as six versions of the next incarnation of its Windows operating system.

Three of these versions would be targeted at the home market. Two would be aimed at the business community and one would be marketed towards the emerging markets. One of these home editions would target the TiVo service by allowing the users to store and play back TV shows.

Microsoft has however not officially released the launch date for Vista though they are trying hard to get it out before the starting of the holiday season in the United States. This is also the most delayed update to their Windows operating system series ever since the launch of the first popularly accepted Windows 3.1 version.

The company also added about these variants that these are aimed at meeting the need of different groups of customers. However, Microsoft has not hinted about the potential pricing structure for Vista.

The six versions are:
* Vista Business
* Vista Enterprise
* Vista Home Basic
* Vista Home Premium
* Vista Ultimate
* Vista Starter
