iDefense offering cash bounty for bug discoverers

Security company iDefense has announced a new program under which they would be offering cash rewards to researchers for finding security vulnerabilities in the Windows Operating System.

These prizes would be offered for finding out bugs, which the software giants Microsoft labels as Critical. This program comes after the company launched a similar program called Vulnerability Contributor Program (VCP) last year.

The offer however ends by the end of next month and the researcher would be required to submit the bug exclusively to iDefense. If the bug is later recognized by the developers Microsoft as Critical, iDefense would payout the bounty worth $10,000.

The company plans to continue this program with different rules for every updated schedule. The aim is to keep the researchers interested in the program and to find out security issues before they are exploited in wild.
