Twitter to clean up mess with Trending Topics
Spam has become a major problem on Twitter. It even affects the trending topics and Twitter developers have admitted that something needs to be done to keep this feature useful for serious users.
Twitter said in a blog post that they are now going to experiment with trending topics to make sure that relevant tweets are more visible compared to the noise that becomes part of it.
This is probably a nicer way of saying that they are going to work on cleaning spammy content from the network.
