Kaspersky Labs: Twitter has a major malware problem

Kaspersky Labs has revealed that as per their research one in 500 links posted on Twitter leads to malware.

They have deployed a tool on the service that monitors the links shared on the network.

Twitter uses shortened links which are hard to decipher for regular users.

And a lot of users are lured into clicking on links which point to malware infected sites.

Kaspersky is using a tool named Krab Krawler which extracts the real link from the shortened links which are shared on the network for their research.

Costin Raiu, chief security expert at Kaspersky claims that around 26% of all Twitter message includes a link and most of them are from spammy accounts.

Twitter has become pretty active in suspending spammy accounts.
