TomTom car kit works only with Apple iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS
TomTom has revealed that the current version of their car kit for the iPhone is only compatible with Apple iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS.
There is no support for the first generation iPhone and iPod Touch.
The company said that the problem is with the software on these devices though their hardware is compatible enough.
The kit comes with its own GPS receiver which they claim is more reliable than the one on the new iPhones. This means that it could work with the iPod Touch as well provided the software is updated to support it.
They could soon provide an update for the software part to enable support for older devices.
