Exporting Facebook Friend List is Practically Impossible?

We have already discussed about how Google is making it tough for you to export your Orkut friends list.

We tried finding out similar solution for Facebook and well, we ran into trouble.

Apparently, it is against Facebook policy to export email addresses from the service even if you want to export a list of your own friends!

There were a couple of applications we discovered on searching. Most of them have disappeared. One was available but it also did not have the option of exporting email addresses of the contacts.

We found another possible solution. Importing Facebook list in your Windows Contacts. It took us several tries to get that working. In the end, Windows Live required us to send an invitation mail to all the imported friends before they could be added to the contact list!

Google at least enables you to export your entire contact list through Google Contacts. No such luck with Facebook.

Facebook however has one method to officially get your Facebook contacts on a competing (!) service. Facebook mobile apps on several platforms download the contact list and add the data on the device’s address book. From that it is usually easily exportable. A couple of users have reported success using this ‘method’.

Feel free to provide possible solutions to this problem.
