Facebook Password Reset Confirmation Email is most likely malware

If you noticed an email in your inbox stating “Facebook Password Reset Confirmation”… Do not open it unless you specifically asked for a password reset.

This is the latest exploit going around on the web trying to infect your machine with a virus.

As usual, it targets Windows users with an executable file that arrives as an attachment.

This email arrives from a spoofed email id which appears to be service {at} facebook(.)com.

The attachment in this message contains malware named Bredolab. Facebook spoke about this latest malware:

“This virus is being distributed through email, not on Facebook. The email is disguised as a Facebook password reset e-mail with an attachment that purportedly contains the new password, but is actually the virus. We’re educating users on how to detect this through the Facebook Security Page.”
