Opera to adopt the popular feedicons RSS Icon
We at TechWhack are personally not very happy at the fact that Opera is mimicking yet another feature (?? Wrong world I believe) from the not so impressive Mozilla Firefox web browser.
The Opera Desktop Team Blog has confirmed that the company has decided to adopt the FeedIcons RSS icon for the Opera Browser. The icon first made an appearance in the Mozilla Firefox browser and was later adopted by Microsoft for their Internet Explorer 7 edition.
The Blog post from the Opera Desktop Team says:
Yes, we’re adopting it too, and it will be in the next weekly build. Thanks to www.feedicons.com for making it so easy! Oh, and in case you haven’t seen it before (what are the odds.. ), I’ve attached a large version to this post which you can make love to.
Here is the image of the icon which would replace the blue colored RSS Icon in current versions of Opera.

The good thing is that considering it’s Opera, we do have a choice. If you dislike the icon, change your skin. And I am pretty sure that someone would come up with original Opera Skin without this icon for users like us!

I use Moose’s skin in which the icon is the one used for links elsewhere in the interface. I suppose it will remain that.
However, I do think the new icon is better than the current blue RSS one. And some unity isn’t bad either.
