Apple dropped ZFS support from Mac OS X because of licensing problems?
Online sources claim that Apple decided to drop support for ZFS file system because of potential licensing problems with Sun Microsystems.
Sun had developed this file system for their Solaris platform. It was supposed to be supported in the latest edition of Mac OS X.
But Apple removed it and did not gave an explanation.
The reports claim that Apple probably wanted a private license from Sun and they did not get a favorable response.
Other reasons might be the recent acquisition of Sun by Oracle.
