Google: We never tried to acquire Twitter

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has clarified that they never tried acquiring the micro-blogging service Twitter.

Google has just entered into a deal wit Twitter which provides them complete access to every tweet ever tweeted.

Google aims to use this data to provide up to date information from the Twitter users on their search engine result pages.

The aim is to provide latest news which is not yet published on news sites but is already trending on Twitter.

Brin spoke about Twitter: “I did not try to buy Twitter.”

Google did acquire another company named Jaiku which provided a similar functionality to Twitter. Jaiku failed to take on Twitter and Google decided to make it an open source offering.
