IMDb celebrate 19th birthday!
IMDb is celebrating its 19th birthday. It’s an achievement considering the service is older than the web browsers!
IMDb founder has stated that the service was launched on October 17, 1990 as a bunch of Unix scripts that enabled users to search for content on the USENET group, rec.arts.movies.
It turned into a website a couple of years ago gaining the current name.
IMDb is now owned by Amazon which enables them to offer their services for free. They do have a paid account offering that provides more information related to movies and people.
