Viadeo acquires Unyk

Viadeo is one of the many web based social networks which caters to professionals.

They have just acquired Canada based Unyk. The combined entity is now the second largest player in this segment after LinkedIn.

The company said that they now have around 25 million users. LinkedIn has around 45 million.

The two companies did not reveal the financial aspects of this acquisition deal.

Company chief executive Dan Serfaty said in a statement: “This acquisition is highly complementary and more than doubles our subscriber base. We have significantly strengthened our market position and offering, particularly throughout Mexico, Brazil and India.”
