Adobe PDF files get a quick view option in Google search results
Google has expanded their quick view feature to Adobe PDF files on their search result pages.
The company said that a majority of indexed PDF files on the web would now have a quick view option on their search results.
This would enable the user to check out the PDF file in its full formatting without opening up an instance of Adobe Reader application.
Files which are not currently covered would still feature the existing View as HTML option. This option displays the text content without the formatting.
Google spoke about this new feature addition:
Today, we’ve added new links to “Quick View” PDFs in your browser with the formatting intact. The new links are based on the same technology that’s available in Google Docs and Gmail, as well as to webmasters through the Google Docs viewer.
