Google offering beta Gmail for your domain
Google is beta testing a new service called: Gmail for your domain. This is pretty similar in the way Microsoft is offering its Windows Live™ Custom Domains beta service. The idea is to enable the consumers to use Gmail’s technology for their own domain based email ids.
The special beta test from the search engine giants provides Gmail, Google’s webmail service to users on their own domain names. The mails are hosted and managed at the Google’s own servers so it brings reliability and for most users, better web mail facilities.
The company provides following facilities with this beta service:
Gmail – 2 gigabytes of storage and search tools that help users find information fast.
Control Panel – Easily manage user accounts, aliases and mailing lists.
It seems to be targeted at the corporate users and might become a paid offering when it is launched in final stage. It would be interesting to see how the service matures into a final product.
