Turbolinux considering establishing presence in India
Japanese Linux vendor Turbolinux Inc. has plans to expand their business worldwide by opening a unit in India. The company wants to establish a joint-venture company in India as per their statement released earlier this week.
Turbolinux India Pte. Ltd. is expected to be a joint venture between Turbolinux and India Action Plan Co. Ltd. It would be based in the Gurgaon city in India and the Japanese firm would hold a 55-percent stake in the venture.
The company is capitalizing this venture with an investment of 27.2 million rupees. The Indian unit expects to start functioning from April this year with an initial worker base of 15 employees in the first year. The company plans to sell their Turbolinux products to customers in India and also plans to set up a global call center for English-speaking customers.
In addition, Turbolinux is also planning to establish a product development center, and provide IT support to Japanese companies that are new to the Indian market.
