Lemote could launch Google Chrome OS products soon!
Chinese blog Shanzai has reported that a local vendor Lemote could soon launch netbooks powered by early editions of the Google Chrome OS.
Google is not scheduled to release the first stable version of the Chrome OS till next year.
The report stated:
Sold by a partly government funded company known as Lemote, products like the Yeelong notebook PC and the Fullong Mini are designed to work with open source software like Linux, but as the aforementioned reviewer notes, these devices are somewhat hampered by their pre-installed Lemote Loonux OS(seriously), which he describes as ‘…ugly like Brian Peppers. Uglier in fact’, so perhaps the move to Chrome OS is indeed a wise move.
It remains to be seen if Google Chrome OS can become a viable platform for desktop computers. The reliance on web services in countries where broadband is not easily accessible is going to be a major problem.
